What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research-supported psychotherapy that helps the brain process distressing memories and experiences that may be contributing to anxiety, trauma responses, depression, relationship difficulties, or emotional overwhelm.
Rather than simply talking about painful experiences, EMDR helps your brain reprocess them so they become less emotionally charged and no longer feel as though they're happening in the present.
Many clients describe feeling:
Less emotionally reactive
More peaceful
Better able to cope with stress
More confident
Less overwhelmed by past experiences
More connected to themselves and others
EMDR is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma by organizations including the American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
